Alpsla or snowmobile — two different ways to move on snow

Is Alpsla an electric snowmobile?

Not really.

Both vehicles move people over snow, but they approach the task in very different ways.

A conventional snowmobile is typically a relatively large and powerful machine designed to provide stability, range, speed and, depending on the model, significant utility capability.

Alpsla follows a different philosophy. It is designed to be lighter, narrower, more compact and more physically connected to the rider (see motorcycle feeling on snow).

Different tools for different jobs

A conventional snowmobile may be the better choice when you need:

• very long range;
• high cruising speed;
• substantial towing capability;
• transport for more than one person;
• established long-distance snowmobile infrastructure.

Alpsla becomes interesting when priorities are different:

• compact dimensions;
• lower weight;
• electric operation;
• manoeuvrability;
• easier transport;
• short and medium-distance mountain access (see last mile to the mountain hut);
• a more active riding experience.

The biggest difference is not the motor

The biggest difference is how the machine feels.

A snowmobile gives the rider the experience of controlling a substantial vehicle on snow.

With Alpsla, we wanted the rider to feel much more physically connected to the machine. The rider moves with it, leans with it and feels the interaction between the front ski, rear track and snow underneath.

That is why we do not see Alpsla simply as a smaller snowmobile. It is another way of moving on snow.

Which one is better?

Neither — without knowing the application.

If you need to travel 150 km or tow a very heavy trailer, a conventional snowmobile may simply be the correct tool.

If you want a compact electric machine for mountain access, resort use or a riding experience closer to a motorcycle, Alpsla may make more sense.

We prefer to define the job first and choose the vehicle second.
